Balko Des Flos finished 11th on his first run back of the season at Galway on Saturday. Rachael Blackmore reported that he was quite keen in the early part of the race which can sometimes be the case on the first run back from a break due to freshness. He got quite tired on very soft ground on the second circuit so just looked after him from there on in. Rachael said he seemed very well in himself, but he will come on a lot for the run.
Henry de Bromhead said, “Balko Des Flos is absolutely fine after the race. He got quite tired on bottomless ground but overall, Rachael was happy with him. He was keen early doors as I think he was excited to be back on a racecourse! He’ll come on plenty for that initial outing, and it was important to get him going again. All roads now lead to Cheltenham on 12th November for the cross country race which has been the plan since the Grand National. I’m really looking forward to running him back at Cheltenham and I’m sure we’ll see a vast improvement from Saturday.”
