Balko Des Flos Cheltenham Review
Balko Des Flos and Potters Corner both ran fantastic races yesterday in the cross country race at Cheltenham finishing 5th and 6th.
Potters Corner made the running and gave it a good go from the front before getting tired in the home straight. He stuck to his task very well looking to really enjoy himself, getting into a good rhythm with his jumping.
Balko Des Flos travelled powerfully throughout and looked the winner for the majority of the way but his huge weight compared to his rivals eventually found him out.
Christian Williams said; "Potters Corner has run a big race. We decided to make the running to give him a good sight of his fences and knew there wouldn’t be much pace on. He got into a good rhythm jumping and did us all proud.
He stuck to his task well and I’m sure he’s got a big race in him this season. He’s come out of the race absolutely fine and we’ll now make a plan going forwards.
Jack Tudor said the ground was once again against him and if it was soft would have been much closer at the finish but on that quick ground he just couldn’t quicken. I’m delighted with him and he’ll give us all a lot of fun for the rest of the season.”
Henry De Bromhead said; “Balko Des Flos has run an extremely good race. He travelled powerfully throughout jumping well and avoided a bit of traffic in front of him along the way.
Going into the race I was very happy with him but unfortunately his handicap mark has found us out. He got struck into by another horse so has a bit of a cut which we’ve treated but hopefully it’s nothing serious.
He’ll travel back to Ireland on Sunday and we’ll make a plan next week. My immediate thoughts are we’ll come back to Cheltenham in December for another go at the cross country race and take it from there.
Rachael was delighted with him and said she thought he’d win going to two out but the weight has found him out.”
RacehorseClub’s Freddy Tylicki said, “Both Balko Des Flos and Potters Corner have run huge races and have done us all very proud. We’ll make a plan of attack going forwards but they’ve ran their hearts out so that’s all we can ask for.
Jack Tudor gave Potters Corner a positive ride from the front and he showed plenty of enthusiasm and we all feel there's another big race in him.
Balko Des Flos travelled like the class act he is but giving huge amounts of weight all round to his rivals has eventually found him out. Both horses will give us all a lot more fun this season and there’s plenty to look forward to. Thank you all for your continued support.”
