It is with great regret we must inform RacehorseClub members that Create Belief has been retired from racing due to a recent career-ending injury.
Johnny Murtagh was pleased with her when she returned to him from her winter break before the new year. However, in the last week or so, she had become very sore when coming out of her stable in the morning to exercise. As a result, Johnny gave her very light exercise, but as last week progressed it was evident there was a real issue as she still seemed extremely sore.
Johnny's veterinary team gave her a full radiographic examination and found that she has joints rubbing against each other. This basically means there are two bones grinding against each other without any support between them. As you can imagine this causes severe pain and is not treatable in order to continue racing.
A meeting was held between the RacehorseClub team, Johnny and his vet team to plan Create Belief's future and see if there was any operation or treatment that would allow her to continue as a racehorse.
The vets strongly advised to stop training Create Belief as it is an issue which cannot be resolved. As a result, the decision was made to retire her.
The news is hugely disappointing for us all. However, the well-being of Create Belief is absolutely paramount.
Create Belief will continue to receive the best treatment available. She will travel to Tweenhills in Gloucestershire where she will continue her recovery before embarking on a second career as a broodmare.
As a member of Create Belief, you will still receive updates on her career as a broodmare which hopefully will give everyone a different racing experience.
RacehorseClub’s Freddy Tylicki said; “It is with great sadness we report Create Belief has been forced to retire from racing due to a recent injury. She came back into training with Johnny Murtagh before the new year but, unfortunately, she’s since picked up a career-ending injury.
She gave RacehorseClub our first ever winner at the Curragh in a premier handicap in May before winning the Sandringham Stakes at Royal Ascot, just over three months after launching. She went on to win the Group 3 Desmond Stakes on her next start at Leopardstown. She was officially rated 110 and had a Timeform rating of 116, which shows how good she was. Her performance at Royal Ascot was remarkable and a day her members will never forget. She will now go to Tweenhills and a decision will be made as to which stallion she will be covered by.
RacehorseClub members can now look forward to following her career as a broodmare and hopefully we can enjoy having her offspring in RacehorseClub silks in the years to come.”
Create Belief’s trainer Johnny Murtagh said; “It’s very disappointing that Create Belief has had to be retired but listening to veterinary advice and speaking to the team at RacehorseClub, unfortunately this decision had to be made in the best interest of Create Belief.
She will always be a special racehorse to me as she was my first Royal Ascot winner as a trainer and she gave RacehorseClub members three amazing days last summer winning at the Curragh, Royal Ascot and Leopardstown.
I’m sure she will be a hugely successful broodmare as her attitude both on and off the racecourse was fantastic, and I look forward to seeing her offspring in the future.”
