Johnny Murtagh and Ben Coen enjoy their first Royal Ascot victory with Create Belief’s impressive win

Create Belief victorious in the Sandringham Stakes

Johnny Murtagh enjoyed plenty of success at Royal Ascot as a jockey and landed his first winner at the meeting as a trainer as RacehorseClub owned Create Belief cruised home to victory in the Sandringham Stakes at Royal Ascot on Friday.

The 3yo filly, by Irish 2000 Guineas winner Awtaad, was victorious over a mile in the Spring Fillies Premier Handicap at the Curragh’s Irish Guineas Festival before heading to the Royal meeting, where she annihilated the field winning by an impressive 5½ lengths.

“I was confident heading into the race and knew the rain would help her. She’d won well at the Curragh on her previous start and had been working well at home. The Sandringham had been our target for a while and the change in weather was to her liking – I was very impressed by her performance and obviously delighted for all involved."

“Training a winner at Royal Ascot means the world to me and the team at home. It was an incredibly special and exciting day – one that I will never forget, and one I am sure all at RacehorseClub will cherish. To be able to share the success with such a fantastic bunch of people who have been given such a unique opportunity made it all the more exciting. Not many can say they bought into a racehorse for £59 and led it into the winners’ enclosure at Royal Ascot! Just marvellous."

“She had a canter this morning and seems in good form. We’re now considering stepping her up to Group company – she’s entered in the Group 2 Kilboy Estate Stakes at the Curragh on Irish Oaks weekend.”

Create Belief, who was RacehorseClub’s first Royal Ascot winner, also provided jockey Ben Coen with his first victory at the historic meeting.

Freddy Tylicki recently joined RacehorseClub’s Executive team

Former dual Group 1 winning Flat jockey and Sky Sports Racing regular Freddy Tylicki, who recently joined RacehorseClub’s Executive team, said: “I had the pleasure of meeting some of our members last Friday for Create Belief’s win in the Sandringham Stakes.

Everyone was excited beforehand with great anticipation, and afterwards the celebrations started in great style. To have had a Royal Ascot winner on our first attempt is simply unbelievable and everyone, myself included, enjoyed the winners enclosure proceedings. The sheer joy was on everyone’s faces. This is what RacehorseClub is all about!

I wasn’t surprised with the win as trainer Johnny Murtagh was all the way positive and optimistic about our chances. The rain came at the right time and jockey Ben Coen had her placed beautifully in behind the leader on the stand side. That proved to be the golden highway all week. When push came to shove, Create Belief responded immediately and put the race to bed within a matter of strides. She’s a filly that is improving rapidly and looks a pattern horse in the making."

Ballot winning RacehorseClub members were ecstatic

John Cooper said: “We were taken to the hospitality for lunch before meeting the trainer and jockey who were very confident of a good result, and she didn’t disappoint, what a run. I can’t put into words the excitement my wife and I felt at seeing her cross the line ahead of the field. My wife had the honour of accepting the trophy on behalf of RacehorseClub, another special moment to remember. We were then whisked away to the winners reception room to celebrate, and celebrate we did."

“A big thanks to all at RacehorseClub for looking after us so well, an experience money can’t buy.”

Mark Debenham, another ballot winning RacehorseClub member said “Having been a racing fan since a child, but never having the opportunity to attend the races, being at Royal Ascot as an owner of Create Belief was a dream come true. The whole day was amazing, meeting Johnny Murtagh and Ben Coen, being in the parade ring with all the owners, trainers and jockeys was an experience I will never forget."

"What a race, she was brilliant! A great ride from Ben. The emotion as she went past the post over 5 lengths clear was incredible and being in the winners enclosure at Royal Ascot was out of this world. Well done to Johnny and Ben and a huge thank you to everyone at RacehorseClub for making it possible and a truly memorable day.”
