RacehorseClub trainer Johnny Murtagh features in the ITV documentary series Against The Odds.
Directed and produced by ITV Racing's Tim Williams.
Johnny Murtagh: Creating Belief looks at his struggles in the saddle and how he has turned his life around since a startlingly low point in 2001 - just months after taking the racing world by storm with his stellar season with Sinndar.
The programme named after our very own Royal Ascot winner, Create Belief, airs tonight at 9pm on ITV4 and then again on Tuesday May 10th at 11pm on ITV.
Riot and The Lir Jet declared for Friday 6th May 2022
Two runners, two continents, a great day for everyone’s favourite horse racing club
With Riot and The Lir Jet both declared to run on Friday, your favourite horse racing club is moving swiftly on from the disappointment of last weekend. Mise En Scene missing out on her run in the QIPCO 1000 Guineas due to spiking a temperature on race day. Such is the life of any horse racing club.
We could not have asked for a better remedy than the two races we have coming up on Friday. RacehorseClub will be superbly represented on two continents as both Riot and The Lir Jet have been declared to run in very valuable races. As promised RacehorseClub gets members to the heart of top class racing on its biggest days and at its grandest theatres.
Potters Corner non runner Punchestown
The decision has been made to withdraw Potters Corner from his intended engagement at Punchestown this afternoon.
His trainer Christian Williams said;
"I've had a good think and looking back at Potters' run on Thursday and despite knowing how difficult it is to win first time around such a specialist track and discipline as shown with the favourite finishing just in front of us, the best option is probably not to participate. I personally enjoy watching him race around these unique cross country races but I think on this occasion after a long season, the safest option is to not participate.
He is absolutely fine after his run on Thursday and is enjoying his time staying at Ted Walsh's yard whilst in Ireland.
We'll get him home, give him a nice holiday and we'll all get together and make a decision on next season when the time is right."
Potters Corner Punchestown Review
Potters Corner finished 6th in the La Touche Cup at Punchestown yesterday. His trainer Christian Williams said this morning,
"Potters Corner is absolutely fine after his run yesterday at Punchestown. He ran ok without ever threatening during the race. Jack Tudor said he was slow out the back of a few of the banks which lost him plenty of ground and you probably need a run round that course to sharpen you up and to be seen at your best. Once out of contention, Jack looked after him as always.
I'll continue to monitor him today and see how he is in the morning before making a decision whether he'll take his chance over the shorter distance back at Punchestown tomorrow."

Potters Corner is set to travel to Ireland next week to run at the Punchestown Festival.
Christian Williams said this morning,
"Potters is in great form. He just loves being in training and he's been leading all my horses who head to Sandown tomorrow for their big day. The plan is to go to Punchestown next week and run him in the cross country race. The entries are not as competitive as to what he has been running in so hopefully he takes to the banks and I'm sure he won't be far away."

Potters Corner Cheltenham Review
Potters Corner finished 7th of 16 in the Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase yesterday at the Cheltenham Festival.
The rain poured all day with the going turning extremely testing. Potters was up in the front line for the majority of the race jostling for position next to Tiger Roll.
He traveled very well for much of the race and ran his heart out. With this race being a conditions race, he effectively had 25 pounds to find on ratings against the likes of Tiger Roll and eventual winner Delta Work. He gave us all a huge performance and we couldn't be more proud. As always when he runs around Cheltenham, he gives his all which is all that can be asked.
He seems absolutely fine this morning and a decision will be made to future plans in the next week or so. He will either now go on his holidays or look at the banks race at the Punchestown Festival next month which is their equivalent to the Cheltenham cross country race.
Christian will closely monitor him and make a decision but as always the horse will come first. At this stage there are no plans for retirement and as we saw yesterday he still loves the game, racing with great enthusiasm.
Thank you all for your continued support.

Potters Corner Newcastle Review
Potters Corner finished 14th on Saturday in the Eider Handicap Chase at Newcastle. He was in contention for the majority of the race but made a significant blunder which put paid to his chances. On the whole he jumped very well. The handicapper might just have hold of him currently at this stage of his career.
Christian Williams said today, “On the face of it, it was a disappointing run however he made a bad mistake which lost his rhythm and put him on the back foot for the remainder of the race. He’s come out of it in fine form and the plan is still to go to Cheltenham for the cross country race two weeks on Wednesday. We know he loves Cheltenham and the cross country course so fingers crossed he has a clear preparation leading upto the race and if he runs the race he did there in December he will give us a run for our money.”
Potters Corner Newcastle Race Preview
Potters Corner is declared to run in the Vertem Eider Handicap Chase (Class 2) at Newcastle tomorrow at 3.15pm.
The race is live on ITV and Sky Sports Racing.
Christian Williams said this evening,
"Potters Corner is in very good form at home. I gave him an easy time of things after his run in the Welsh Grand National to freshen him up. I think we can put a line through that run as he was coming into it on the back of running his heart out at Cheltenham and it was a real war attrition on bottomless ground at Chepstow when most of the field pulled up.
I've put Ellis Collier on him tomorrow who is my conditional jockey and takes off a valuable seven pounds. Potters is a straight forward ride so I'm sure will give Ellis a great spin. Ideally we'd have liked a bit more juice in the ground tomorrow but it'll be nice ground. The trip we know is fine for him and he's about the only horse in the race who is proven over this marathon distance.
I'm hopeful of a big run tomorrow hence his declaration. All being well he'll come out of the race well and can head to Cheltenham for the cross country."
Potters Corner is around 18/1 and it is advised to have a small each way bet.

Happy New Year from RacehorseClub
RacehorseClub would like to wish you all a very happy new year. Thank you for your support in 2021 and we very much look forward to enjoying more success together in 2022.
Since launching on 1st April 2021, our very first runner was Balko Des Flos who finished runner up in the Grand National at Aintree. A race which will be remembered forever as it was the amazing Rachael Blackmore and Minella Times who won the race for trainer Henry De Bromhead who trained the first two home.
More great performances on the track soon followed just eight days later when The Lir Jet was narrowly denied in the Group 3 Greenham Stakes at Newbury.
The Lir Jet put up some more big performances over the season including in Group 1 company before winning his first start in America, the Group 3 Franklin Simpson Stakes at Kentucky Downs in September for Brendan Walsh. He is now back in training after a holiday and is being aimed at the Saudi Cup Turf Sprint on 26th February, a race worth $1.5m.
Create Belief has been a superstar since her purchase after her maiden success back in April. She won a valuable premier handicap at the Curragh on Irish Guineas weekend in May before a scintillating performance at Royal Ascot winning the Sandringham Stakes by 5 ½ lengths, arguably the performance of the whole meeting.
Since Royal Ascot, Create Belief improved again to win the Group 3 Desmond Stakes at Leopardstown. Her trainer Johnny Murtagh did a wonderful job as did her two jockeys Ben Coen and Shane Kelly. Create Belief has a huge year ahead when she will be competing in some of the biggest races in Europe.
Potters Corner has proved to be a huge part of the RacehorseClub team running in both English and Welsh Grand Nationals, with his finest hour coming recently when agonisingly beaten a nose at Cheltenham in the cross-country race. He looks sure to have another big day in him in 2022.
RacehorseClub members have enjoyed stable visits to Michael Bell, Henry De Bromhead, Johnny Murtagh and Christian Williams as well as Zoom calls before big races.
RacehorseClub ambassador Ed Chamberlin has been ever present throughout the year both on and off the racecourse and has enjoyed meeting many members.
Freddy Tylicki joined the management team and has done a great job both on and off the racecourse.
RacehorseClub ambassador Oisin Murphy was crowned champion jockey for the third year in a row, an incredible achievement.
Davy Russell, RacehorseClub’s jumps ambassador has performed miracles since returning from injury and showed he is still at the very top of his game with Grade 1 glory over the Christmas period.
A huge team effort and firstly we thank our brilliant members for their support and loyalty, our fantastic trainers who always put the horse first, our jockeys who give us 100% every time they put on the now hugely distinctive RacehorseClub colours, and finally we thank our four amazing horses who have made dreams a reality in 2021.

Potters Corner Welsh Grand National Review
Potters Corner pulled up in yesterday's Welsh Grand National. The race got underway on the third attempt after two false starts with Potters Corner sitting in a prominent position and travelled very well hitting 4/1 in running at one stage.
Going out on the final circuit he seemed to still have plenty to offer. He got tight into a couple of jumps down the back straight final time which lost a bit of momentum and gradually lost his position before pulling up before 5 out.
Of the 20 starters, 14 runners pulled up which suggests that the ground was extremely testing.
Jack Tudor said post race, "I was very happy with him for the first part of the race. He travelled very well, so much so I had to take a pull a couple of times so we didn't end up in front! Going down the back the petrol was beginning to run out so I just looked after him. I could have kept going but that wouldn't have been fair on the horse as he always tries his very best. I think Cheltenham probably took more out of him than we thought but he seems fine after the race which is the main thing. It was such a hard race with so many horses pulling up so I wouldn't be too disheartened."
Christian Williams said this morning, "Potters Corner seems fine today. I was very happy with him going into the race but maybe Cheltenham left its mark and he's run a bit flat. He travelled very well and showed all of his enthusiasm but as the result showed with 14 top class horses pulling up it really was a war of attrition. He'll have an easy week now to rest and recuperate and we'll make a plan going forwards."
Potters Corner Welsh Grand National Preview
Potters Corner is declared to run in the Coral Welsh Grand National Handicap Chase (Grade 3) at Chepstow tomorrow at 2.50pm.
The race is live on ITV4 and Sky Sports Racing.
A former winner of this famous race in 2019, Potters Corner has snuck into the race at the bottom of the handicap and goes to Chepstow in tremendous form since finishing a nose second in the Cheltenham cross country race 16 days ago.
Jack Tudor who rode Potters Corner to Welsh Grand National victory in 2019 once again takes the ride.
The Welsh Grand National has been the plan for Potters Corner all season so its great he gets the opportunity to line up in the race.
Native River at the top of the weights will no doubt make the running and will give it a good go from the front. Last year's winner Secret Reprieve is at the head of the market and although he hasn't ran since his win last year could still be very well handicapped.
Christian Williams reports Potters Corner to be in fine form going into the race tomorrow.
“Potters Corner is bouncing going into the Welsh Grand National tomorrow. This race has been the plan all year. I was a little bit tense this morning watching the declarations come in but thankfully we were the last horse to get into the race.
The rain has come which is a huge help to Potters Corner and it’s the first time in a long while that he will have his favoured conditions tomorrow. He’s carrying 10 stone and Jack Tudor takes a valuable three more pounds off his back with his claim and I’m very hopeful he can run a huge race.
He was desperately unlucky not to win at Cheltenham on his previous run but I’m glad to report he came out of that race in great order so I’m really looking forward to him running tomorrow.
I’m sure RacehorseClub members are hugely excited to be a part of a race of this stature and fingers crossed Potters Corner can do them all proud.”
RacehorseClub’s Freddy Tylicki said,
“It’s fantastic that RacehorseClub is represented in another hugely important race tomorrow. The Coral Welsh Grand National is always a standout in the jumping calendar and a highlight over the festive period. The race is to be shown on ITV4 and Sky Sports Racing.
It is a very competitive race as you would expect but Christian Williams is very happy with Potters Corner, and it looks like there’s going to be plenty of cut in the ground which is a bonus.
Christian Williams, Jack Tudor and Potters Corner all know what it takes to win a Welsh Grand National so one thing is for sure, you can’t rule out our chances.
Fingers crossed he runs a great race and gives our members a day to remember.”
Potters Corner is around 12/1 with many bookmakers offering 6 and 7 places. It is advised to have an each way bet.
