RacehorseClub caps and cufflinks added to Merchandise page

RacehorseClub is delighted to announce some stylish additions to our merchandise section.
Our RacehorseClub caps come in two fantastic colours, a traditional navy blue or a wonderful burnt orange. But we have significantly upped the ante on the design. The RacehorseClub logo and the name of your chosen horse are now embroidered on the front of the cap while an embroidered 'RacehorseClub' also appears on one side.
All our caps are made using a blend of polyester and cotton along with a patented product, Elastane. The Elastane provides a degree of flexibility in the material which ensures a snug, comfortable fit. These high tech caps will be must have items. Especially if you are going to be getting along to see your horse in the parade ring or joining us for a stable visit.
If our caps are the definition of smart casual then our other new offering in the store is something altogether more classy. Our RacehorseClub cufflinks are delightful objects of desire. These elegant enamel links are decorated in club colours and the effect is wonderful - reminiscent of fine Saxon jewellery these are a handsome addition to anyone's sartorial options.

RacehorseClub Mobile app retired

Sadly we have retired our mobile app which had been in soft launch for testing. We decided that the experience wasn't on par with that of our website after receiving reviews from our members.
However our responsive website works beautifully on a mobile device and provides a more seamless experience for those using both desktop and mobile versions.
Moreover, we would suggest that you add a link to the website on the homepage of your mobile device (like an app button) to ensure that you have quick and easy access to your account and latest news 24/7.

The Lir Jet thriving after Keeneland

The Lir Jet is thriving after his run at Keeneland on Saturday. Looking back it was a very solid performance for his seasonal reappearance and if you take out the superb winner we're not far off. Also with a quicker break he would have been even closer. The logical move is it step him back up in trip however there are very little races upcoming available between 6 and 7 furlongs but a target will be decided next week.

The Lir Jet Race Replay

Shakertown Stakes Replay
10 April 2022

The Lir Jet Keeneland Race Review

The Lir Jet made a very pleasing seasonal reappearance in the Shakertown Stakes (Group 2) at Keeneland yesterday.

The Lir Jet was slightly slowly away meaning he had plenty of ground to make up in the early part of the race. Golden Pal as expected set a scintillating pace and kept going to be an easy winner.

The Lir Jet ran on strongly down the home straight to grab a close fifth.

Tyler Gaffalione said post race,

"I'm very happy with that. He broke a bit slow but he gave me a real good feel down the back stretch, he just got outpaced early. He will come on stacks for that race and stepping back up in trip he will be back in the winners circle very soon. He's got a really exciting season ahead."

The Lir Jet's trainer Brendan Walsh said,

"Really good solid run. He just was on the back foot from flag fall but he's ran on very well all the way to the line. We know he can compete with America's top sprinters but I think we'll look at stepping him back up in trip slightly but this has been a great starting point to get his season started."

The Lir Jet Keeneland Race Preview

The Lir Jet is declared to run in the Shakertown Stakes (Group 2) at Keeneland tomorrow at 9.30pm UK time.

Tyler Gaffalione takes the ride.

The race is live on Sky Sports Racing.

A massively competitive race with some serious horses in action including Golden Pal who is officially one of the best sprinters in the world with a rating of 121. He sets an exceptional standard and is the one we all have to beat. He is draw out in stall 10 however and his biggest pace danger in the early part of the race is likely to come from his outside in stall 11 with Just Might who is a speedball. Hopefully those two will take on each other and we can take a lead from them into the race.

As we all know, tomorrow is a bit of back up plan due to The Lir Jet frustratingly missing out on his proposed assignments in Saudi Arabia and Dubai, however he has done nothing but please Brendan Walsh since the turn of the year. His work has consistently been very good so fingers crossed he goes and runs a big race.

Tomorrow will require a career best from the The Lir Jet, however he did beat Golden Pal in the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot in 2020 so we shouldn't underestimate the talent and ability The Lir Jet has.

Brendan Walsh said today,

“Everything is good, there’s been plenty of rain about so I’d imagine the ground will be on the easy side which I don’t think he should mind, and it’ll be lovely fresh ground.

He seems to be coming into the race in good shape, his work has been very good. It’s a tough race with some very nice horses in there which you’d expect for this race as it’s always high class. There looks to be a lot of speed on the wide outside with Golden Pal and Just Might. I’m very much looking forward to getting him back on the track and it’ll be very interesting to see how he runs.”

It is advised to have a small each way bet.

The Lir Jet misses out on Dubai invite

The Lir Jet has just missed out on getting an invitation for the Al Quoz Sprint at Meydan next Saturday.

His trainer Brendan Walsh said, "It's very disappointing that The Lir Jet has not gained an invitation to run in the Al Quoz Sprint. Unfortunately the race this year is massively competitive and he just hasn't quite made it in with a rating of 108. With these world class international races, horses have to be invited by the racing authorities. I've never had him in better form and I thought he would go into the race with a competitive chance. Unfortunately we're now going to have to rethink and it looks like he'll go for the Grade 2 Shakertown at Keeneland on the 9th April."

Happy New Year from RacehorseClub

RacehorseClub would like to wish you all a very happy new year. Thank you for your support in 2021 and we very much look forward to enjoying more success together in 2022.

Since launching on 1st April 2021, our very first runner was Balko Des Flos who finished runner up in the Grand National at Aintree. A race which will be remembered forever as it was the amazing Rachael Blackmore and Minella Times who won the race for trainer Henry De Bromhead who trained the first two home.

More great performances on the track soon followed just eight days later when The Lir Jet was narrowly denied in the Group 3 Greenham Stakes at Newbury.

The Lir Jet put up some more big performances over the season including in Group 1 company before winning his first start in America, the Group 3 Franklin Simpson Stakes at Kentucky Downs in September for Brendan Walsh. He is now back in training after a holiday and is being aimed at the Saudi Cup Turf Sprint on 26th February, a race worth $1.5m.

Create Belief has been a superstar since her purchase after her maiden success back in April. She won a valuable premier handicap at the Curragh on Irish Guineas weekend in May before a scintillating performance at Royal Ascot winning the Sandringham Stakes by 5 ½ lengths, arguably the performance of the whole meeting.

Since Royal Ascot, Create Belief improved again to win the Group 3 Desmond Stakes at Leopardstown. Her trainer Johnny Murtagh did a wonderful job as did her two jockeys Ben Coen and Shane Kelly. Create Belief has a huge year ahead when she will be competing in some of the biggest races in Europe.

Potters Corner has proved to be a huge part of the RacehorseClub team running in both English and Welsh Grand Nationals, with his finest hour coming recently when agonisingly beaten a nose at Cheltenham in the cross-country race. He looks sure to have another big day in him in 2022.

RacehorseClub members have enjoyed stable visits to Michael Bell, Henry De Bromhead, Johnny Murtagh and Christian Williams as well as Zoom calls before big races.

RacehorseClub ambassador Ed Chamberlin has been ever present throughout the year both on and off the racecourse and has enjoyed meeting many members.

Freddy Tylicki joined the management team and has done a great job both on and off the racecourse.

RacehorseClub ambassador Oisin Murphy was crowned champion jockey for the third year in a row, an incredible achievement.

Davy Russell, RacehorseClub’s jumps ambassador has performed miracles since returning from injury and showed he is still at the very top of his game with Grade 1 glory over the Christmas period.

A huge team effort and firstly we thank our brilliant members for their support and loyalty, our fantastic trainers who always put the horse first, our jockeys who give us 100% every time they put on the now hugely distinctive RacehorseClub colours, and finally we thank our four amazing horses who have made dreams a reality in 2021.

25 March 2022

Merry Christmas and a small thank you gift from us all!

The team at RacehorseClub would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas.

Thank you for your amazing support this year.

2021 has been a fantastic year both on and off the racecourse for RacehorseClub and our brilliant members. Let's hope for more success together in 2022!

The Lir Jet storms home to win Franklin Simpson

The Lir Jet returned to winning form in the Grade 2 Franklin Simpson Stakes at Kentucky Downs on Saturday evening winning by a very comfortable 1 and 3/4 lengths.

Ridden by Tyler Gaffalione, The Lir Jet never left the inside rail and finished his race very strongly to storm clear inside the final furlong.

Trainer Brendan Walsh said after the race: “I haven’t had The Lir Jet a very long time, but he came to me in very good shape from Michael Bell which made my job very easy. We just took him over when he got off the plane, and here we are.

I thought he was very impressive. It looked like he was always in control and got a great ride. It worked out great. I’m delighted for Qatar Racing who have now won this race for the third consecutive year, and also their partners in the horse, RacehorseClub and their members.

RacehorseClub have had an amazing start over in the U.K. and Ireland. Now Grade 2, Grade 3 and Royal Ascot winners not mentioning a runner up in the Grand National all within six months of launching. It’s great to be part of their team training this wonderful horse. We’ll see how he comes out of the race and make a plan going forwards.”

Tyler Gaffalione who took the ride said post race: “He broke sharp, grabbed a hold of the bit running up the hill. Even going down the hill he grabbed it a little more. I had to wait a little bit longer. He was taking me the whole way. As soon as a spot opened up he accelerated and finished the job."

A truly magnificent performance and huge congratulations to you all. It was not an easy decision to ship The Lir Jet to America but thankfully the planned has worked out and we thank you all for your continued support.

The Lir Jet runs tomorrow at Kentucky Downs in the Franklin Simpson Stakes (Grade 2). Tyler Gaffalione is booked to ride. The race is at 5.18pm Kentucky time and 11.18pm UK time. The race is over 6.5f on the turf and is worth $600k (he runs for $300k as not Kentucky-bred).

A competitive race as you would expect for the grade. The two main contenders against The Lir Jet look to be Point By Me who is a Grade 1 winner having won the Secretariat Stakes and Miss Amulet who we are familiar with as she is a filly trained in Ireland by Ken Condon who has made the trip over.
The Lir Jet has a very good draw in stall 2 so the plan will be to make use of the draw and go forward. Tyler Gaffalione is a top jockey and has a very impressive strike rate around Kentucky Downs.
Brendan Walsh said "I'm very happy with The Lir Jet. The more time I've had him the more pleased I've become. He's settled in well and seems happy. I gave him a nice workout last weekend which put him spot on. I won the race last year with Guildsman and of the two horses, The Lir Jet would marginally be the better horse. It is a competitive race but I'd be disappointed if he wasn't in the mix.
Whatever he does tomorrow he will improve the more he gets used to the American training regime, however he's fit and well and ready for action. Fingers crossed he gives a good account of himself and runs a big race for you all."
It is advised to have an each way bet on The Lir Jet.
